Some things are worth waiting for…
Traveling thousands of miles from home to enter college is the only way nineteen-year-old Avery Morgansten can escape what happened at the Halloween party five years ago—an event that forever changed her life. All she needs to do is make it to her classes on time, make sure the bracelet on her left wrist stays in place, not draw any attention to herself, and maybe—please God—make a few friends, because surely that would be a nice change of pace. The one thing she didn’t need and never planned on was capturing the attention of the one guy who could shatter the precarious future she’s building for herself.
Some things are worth experiencing…
Cameron Hamilton is six feet and three inches of swoon-worthy hotness, complete with a pair of striking blue eyes and a remarkable ability to make her want things she believed were irrevocably stolen from her. She knows she needs to stay away from him, but Cam is freaking everywhere, with his charm, his witty banter, and that damn dimple that’s just so… so lickable. Getting involved with him is dangerous, but when ignoring the simmering tension that sparks whenever they are around each other becomes impossible, he brings out a side of her she never knew existed.
Some things should never be kept quiet…
But when Avery starts receiving threatening emails and phone calls forcing her to face a past she wants silenced, she has no other choice but to acknowledge that someone is refusing to allow her to let go of that night when everything changed. When the devastating truth comes out, will she resurface this time with one less scar? And can Cam be there to help her or will he be dragged down with her?
And some things are worth fighting for…

Cover: It fits perfectly with the story.  The boy has his eyes closed and is really into the kiss, but the girl is cautious and reserved, yet you can tell she really does want to kiss him back.  And even though there's not much color it's really pretty still.

Lately it seems New Adult books are all the same.  One character has gone through something traumatic and is in their first year of college trying to figure out life. And while that was the case for this book, it didn't feel like a recycled concept.  It felt real, like these two people Avery and Cam really existed somewhere facing these problems.  I loved the subtle message in this book that being a victim of a traumatic event and then not speaking up can not only be harmful to your mental health, but to someone else in the future.  Also, half way through it was like the author just decided to turn this into an erotica novel...not that I'll really complain about super steamy scenes with Cam.

I didn't think that Jennifer L. Armentrout could come make her male characters any hotter, but Cam seriously is the ideal male specimen.  He's deliciously hot, has perfect one liner jokes, loves his family, has a pet turtle, and is so sweet to Avery even when she's pushing him away.  He's also very realistic.  He has flaws and he struggles just like everyone else.  Oh and did I mention he can cook?  He sure loved his cookies and eggs.

Avery was frustrating because she had gone so long in life keeping to herself that she pushed everyone who cared about her away.  I found that I understood why she did what she did so I ended up liking her character.  I also thought she was a very realistic college student.  She ate tones of unhealthy food.  She hung out with friends in the cafeteria and in her apartment.  She went to a few parties and drank occasionally.  She tried on half her closet before going on a date.  I felt connected to her.  I think it was also because she was a dancer and cleaned when she was stressed (two things that I relate with).

Jacob was the stereotype gay friend that we all love.  He had funny one liners that usually had to do with how hot he thought Cam was.  He kind of reminded me of a mixture of Damian from Mean Girls and Walt from Carrie Diaries.  Brit was also a very colorful character.  She was a great friend for letting Avery know she was there for her if she needed to talk.  Yet she also had a funny side that kept the mood light throughout the book.

I love Jennifer L. Armentrout's writing so much that I bought this book without even reading the summary really.  It had been .99 on kindle the first week it was out and I missed the sale and bought it for $2.99 the other day, but guess what?  I didn't even care.  I think J.L.A. deserves the full 3 bucks.  Hell, I woulda paid $10 for it.  And that's saying a lot because I'm very picky when it comes to how I spend my money these days.  So basically what I'm saying is go get this book.  It's worth it and you'll probably read it in a day like I did.

“A sleepy smile pulled at my lips as I rolled onto my stomach, stretching my legs out and pointing my toes. The sheets slipped over my bare skin and ended up somewhere at the foot of my bed. There was either a perverted ghost in my bedroom or Cam was wide awake.”

“My brain was telling me this was a bad idea and I told my brain to shut the fuck up, because it rarely told me anything helpful.”
