This week's musing asks:

If you were going to write a book, what

would you write about? Would it be fiction,

 or nonfiction?

I write often, but am not really close to finishing the novel I'm working on.  It's a YA/New Adult contemporary story that I started writing more for myself last summer.  I had just graduated and I was confused and didn't know what I wanted to do with my life.  I figured writing usually helps me sort out my feelings so I put a character in a situation like mine and saw how she developed.  It was very therapeutic.  Here it is if you want to read it.

I also write for my goodreads group creative writing contests which you can view my stories here or here.

I've been writing forever though.  I started when I fell "in love" for the first time.  I put that in quotes because looking back at it I'm not sure I would call it love, more like high school lust.  Anyway, during that time instead of keeping a journal I wrote my feelings in a story form.  Now, many years later, I am able to read it and smile.  I think writing about special moments in our lives is a great gift to give our future self.

What about you?
Any writers out there?

  2. Such a great answer! I first started writing poetry because of my feelings and such, and then it blossomed out into short stories, too. What is the Goodreads group? I would love to join in! I miss my creative writing class I had. I also write on things when I get a sudden lightbulb, generally though, I have a little notebook I tote with me everywhere! Thanks for visiting :)

  3. I'm going to check out your writing forthwith!

Me personally, I've written a lot over the years--mostly in the fanfiction genre, but I've written a historical mystery novel that I've been working on for what feels like forever. Currently on the second draft and trying to cut about 50,000 words off the ting. Eventually I plan to submit it to an agent for representation, but I can't tell you how long that'll take. Maybe never, who knows?

  4. Vyki-I sent you the link to goodreads group

Jonathan-that's awesome! I haven't read much historical fiction, but it's something I'm def interested in. I wish I had the problem of having too much writing. Idk what's harder..writing more or cutting back lol. Good luck!

  5. What an interesting way to get ideas for your writing! I think it's really cool that you have your earlier writing to look back on now to remind you of what you were like when you were younger.

  6. I'm a reader, not a writer. I think it's great that you started writing for yourself last summer.
