Feature & Follow Friday #7

Gain New Blog Followers

This meme is hosted by Parajunkee & Alison Can Read
It is a great way to meet fellow bloggers and gain new followers.  Each participant will answer the week's F&F questions.  And each week a blogger will be Featured on the host's website.

This week's question:

Q: Jumping Genres: Ever pick up a book from a genre you usually don't like and LOVE it? Tell us about it and why you picked it up in the first place.

I used to only read contemporary and chick lit (with the exception of Harry Potter and Twilight).  But one day I saw Divergent on the shelf at the library and picked it up because the cover was interesting (and shiny lol).  The only other dystopian I had read was Hunger Games and I wasn't too sure if I liked that genre or just happened to like HG.  I looooved Divergent and now I can't get enough of dystopians.

What about you?  Have you been pleasantly surprised by a new genre?
Happy Friday!

  4. For the longest time I only read classics. Really, for yearssssss. Then I branched out and read a cozy mystery, then something else, etc. etc.

I need to find a good dystopian. I will try your suggestions. :-)

    1. wow classics are great, but I can't imagine reading only that genre. I'm thinking about reading Gone with the Wind soon even though it's like 1,000 pgs long. Do you have any other classic recommendations?

  5. Thanks for stopping by my blog! I love Hunger Games and HP and Divergent was pretty good too. I haven't read the sequel yet though. I think Shatter Me is a dystopian and I LOVED that book!

  10. I was pleasantly surprised by a book from a genre I was never interested in trying but it only convinced me to read the author's other work not other works from the genre :). New follower here.

  12. I really enjoy dystopians the the way that authors imagine all these horrible 'futures'!

    Thanks for stopping by!

  13. Dystopians are awesome! I think the Hunger Games was my first one.

I see you're reading Ender's Game. It took me a little to get into it but then I was hooked. Hope you like it!
