It is a great way to meet fellow bloggers and gain new followers. Each participant will answer the week's F&F questions. And each week a blogger will be Featured on the host's website.
This week's question:
Q: Jumping Genres: Ever pick up a book from a genre you usually don't like and LOVE it? Tell us about it and why you picked it up in the first place.
I used to only read contemporary and chick lit (with the exception of Harry Potter and Twilight). But one day I saw Divergent on the shelf at the library and picked it up because the cover was interesting (and shiny lol). The only other dystopian I had read was Hunger Games and I wasn't too sure if I liked that genre or just happened to like HG. I looooved Divergent and now I can't get enough of dystopians.
What about you? Have you been pleasantly surprised by a new genre?
Happy Friday!

I also really love dystopians too! I definitely need to read Divergent still though.

I'm the opposite haha! I never used to like contemporary but I've really gotten into them lately :)
ReplyDeleteNice blog, new follower!
My FF :)
I love Divergent as well! Good for you that you found a new genre you like to read :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a new GFC follower, and if you want to know my choice, please come over to my FF post and find out.
Have a great weekend!
I feel like all I ever talk about is Divergent, but it's just soooo good.
DeleteFor the longest time I only read classics. Really, for yearssssss. Then I branched out and read a cozy mystery, then something else, etc. etc.
ReplyDeleteI need to find a good dystopian. I will try your suggestions. :-)
Jenna
wow classics are great, but I can't imagine reading only that genre. I'm thinking about reading Gone with the Wind soon even though it's like 1,000 pgs long. Do you have any other classic recommendations?
DeleteHaha. Totally. I tried to read Wuthering Heights but I can't. I just can't understand a thing! Thanks for the #FF! :D
DeleteWuthering Heights is the only book that I've ever read that I didn't finish =x
DeleteThanks for stopping by my blog! I love Hunger Games and HP and Divergent was pretty good too. I haven't read the sequel yet though. I think Shatter Me is a dystopian and I LOVED that book!
ReplyDeleteAlways glad to hear that someone has converted to dystopians. I love the genre myself!
ReplyDeleteMy follow friday. Hope you visit!
Divergent seems to be listed a lot.

I'm just like you with this question! I started from Contemporary and Chick-Lit (and enjoyed vampire ya too) and found the Dystopian genre and ended up loving it :P

Hopping through. I really need to read Divergent. It's sitting on my shelf but I haven't read it yet.
ReplyDeleteMy Hop
I was pleasantly surprised by a book from a genre I was never interested in trying but it only convinced me to read the author's other work not other works from the genre :). New follower here.

Ya sometimes that happens. The fact that you tried it at all is great. I'm following you back. =)
DeleteI haven't read Divergent yet, but I just read The Hunger Games series about a month ago, and I liked those a lot.
ReplyDeleteI'm also stopping by to let you know that I nominated you for a Leibster blog award : http://midnight-orchids.blogspot.com/2012/07/leibster-blog-award.html
I really enjoy dystopians the the way that authors imagine all these horrible 'futures'!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
Dystopians are awesome! I think the Hunger Games was my first one.
ReplyDeleteI see you're reading Ender's Game. It took me a little to get into it but then I was hooked. Hope you like it!
